The food here is AMAZING. My fiancé and I came after a photo shoot for engagement and it we both agreed we couldn't have picked a better place. Every bite had us saying "wow" literally. I didn't think food this good existed in our area at such a fair price. The light hearted environment had us questioning upon initially entering but its unique charm ended up being a memorable location and experience.
Had a solid birthday dinner here. My cocktail was probably my favorite part of the night and we liked the room. Our food was all good, but I kept hoping for something to really stand out. Our server was perfectly nice but a bit awkward. Will try again.
Incredible food and wonderful atmosphere. I'm hone having a hard time putting my experience here into words; the food ranged from "very good" to "best I've ever had" and the cocktails were delicious. Our server was wonderful; she was funny and attentive and had good recommendations, and the people who cleared the plates as needed were delightful too. I'm not often moved to write a review about a restaurant, but this was so incredibly good I feel it is my civic duty to implore you to visit Chartreuse at your earliest convenience.
First time trying this spot and really liked it. Nice environment, small plate spot and me and my friend ordered 3 plates. Got the smoked whitefish spread, gnocchi and grouper cheeks. Grouper cheeks were a little short on flavor but overall I would come back.
The first callout I have to make is that the service here is absolutely incredible. I added a note that we were dining to celebrate my girlfriend's medical school residency match day, and they immediately congratulated her as we were seated and brought out complimentary mocktails as cheers. Also, as some of us didn't eat pork, they modified the menu items to avoid including it, which really showed their hospitality. Throughout the night, they were extremely attentive and got more water or cleared dishes as soon as they were finished. As for the food, they are definitely more of a shareable situation with smaller portions, although some of the main entrees are large enough to be enjoyed solo. We had a party of 3 and ended up sharing a bunch of menu items family style, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food. For starters, we ordered the bread basket, fish curry, twice cooked egg, and gobi manchurian. The twice cooked egg and the gobi manchurian were the clear standouts from that group. As the mains, we shared the lamb strip and the branzino (modified to be made without the pork vinaigrette). While the lamb was good, it was a little smaller and too fatty for my taste. The branzino was incredible, and I would 100% order that again. For dessert, we finished off with the bread pudding, and that was a delicious way to end the night. Would highly recommend checking out this restaurant! I would encourage making a reservation ahead of time to be safe and arriving a little early to find street parking.
I was in Detroit for business and did a quick survey of the restaurants in the area I was staying; Warren. So I expanded my search to Detroit and found Chartreuse on the outskirts in a trendy art district. Easy to get to and ample parking. Once I got inside I knew that I made a great decision to take a little more xtra drive. I didn't have a reservation but the hostess found me a nice spot at the bar. The bartender was cool to talk to and super helpful with drink and food recommendations. They have a nice list of specialty cocktails but I asked for a vesper which is my favorite martini. No problem at all. And perfectly prepared. I went with the twice cooked egg and man oh man there's a reason why this menu item is a permanent resident on their otherwise seasonal menu. Great spot, great food, great vibes.
First, I was expecting the side to resemble a steak house. Instead it was a lovely whimsical light and warm environment. The veggie dishes were great, the fried egg was nice, but not as good as I expected. I had the steelhead which laid on top of some beans. I believe. I was not a fan on it at all. I did love the Mocktails menu and the first Mocktails on the list, I had two of them, with a citrus yummy flavor-loved it! I would go back, but not for a serious meal maybe for a small plate and a delicious mocktail. It's a very pricey place, but the location is great (next door to the DIA) and most places are pricey now.
Whoever cooked the short rib tonight DID THAT. (I've never had short rib that had panang curry and it was divine) the sushi rice and slaw were GREAT. DELICIOUS DISH. PHENOMENAL GREAT SERVICE I love the setting, it's dark and cozy, but not too small. I ordered cava, and the pour was nice. I'd come back for date night. Thanks for the great service and food.
We had a very nice dinner here before seeing a movie at the Detroit Art Institute. There was a reasonable list of beers, wines and cocktails - I enjoyed my Mast Landing Milk Stout. Two of us had the butternut squash soup, one of the highlights of the meal. found it off-putting to be charged extra for bread and butter. Nancy had the mushroom confit, which she liked very much. Barbara had the green salad, which looked great. Two of us had the short rib, which I thought was OK but our friend Mike deemed disappointing. The masa tots were a hit as far as I was concerned but hardly anyone else at the table tried them.| We had room left for dessert so the four of us shared one of each of the three choices. The rye cake with mascarpone mousse and the vanilla pudding were outstanding; the "twinkie," an orange cake, was also good. We left both sated and satisfied: a good meal
We had a reservation for our anniversary dinner on a Friday night. We quickly found street parking and when we got there the host told us that our table was not ready yet. We were able to wait in the lounge and order some cocktails but our table was ready in a few minutes. We started off with drinks and I ordered the last word which is their signature cocktail and I really enjoyed it. Some highlights of food was the tuna tartare and the pork dish that we had. I thought that the wings were just okay. I will definitely be back to try their different menus!
